Heather S.
Heather loves teaching viola and violin to students of all ages and abilities. Her motto is, "Music is for everyone!" She has been teaching for several decades and has had students win awards, along with some choosing to become professional musicians. She received a bachelor's and master's degree in viola performance from Indiana University - with a cognate in violin pedagogy - and received a performance certificate from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. She won a position as a full-time member of the Grand Rapids Symphony, where she played viola for 17 years. In her teaching, she chooses from a wide variety of music books, based on what will be the best fit for each student. She tailors each lesson to the individual student, with the perspective that every student is unique and has strengths of their own.
